Montana Outdoors
I’m more than willing to think cool, but I’d rather be cool — and that looks like a fine place to pursue coolth!

The stream flow is still more than its summer normal because it still contains snow melt. That also helps cool the whole canyon.

In another week or so, the water volume will be a little less, and this stream will flow completely underground before it gets to the valley, but a mile up the trail it will flow like this all summer long. Few people make the hike and so they don’t know the stream is there. It has a sister stream a few miles away that does the same thing.

Ah, so refreshing! I can almost hear the stream babbling along and feel the cool breeze and imagine my tootsies in the fresh, crisp water. Cold? Yep, I like it!

That’s an excellent way to put it! At some point, small streams like that are what make life possible on our planet. Now if we could convince everyone to cherish and protect them!

I wish you could just duck in there on those very hot days! Even if the canyon did heat up a bit, the stream would still be ice cold.

The years that I spent in Arizona impressed on me just how precious a stream is, and I am completely in love with the beautiful, cold streams here.
