Mount Headley

I will be away from the computer for awhile; don’t know how long just yet. Will try to catch up with everybody when I return! (The photo doesn’t have anything to do with it, just one of my favorite places that I love to think about.)

Stream crossing

During the years we lived in the Phoenix valley we spent a lot of time in the desert and one place to which we returned many times was a Jeep trail that led far back into the Superstition Mountains. A small dirt road gave access to the start of the Jeep tail after a few miles from the highway and at the start of the trail it was necessary to cross a wash which was normally dry. After a storm it could quite different and sometimes challenging as the photo from 1974 shows.

Northeast from Silcox…

Mount Silcox

Photo was taken August 23, 2010 from USFS trail 478 from Goat Lakes to Mount Silcox in the Cube Iron/Silcox roadless area in the Cabinet Mountains of western Montana.

To the far right of the photo between some of the branches of the tree you can see a bit of the road that leads to the trail head, and a couple inches to the left of that and down a little you can see a piece of the trail crossing an open area of the mountainside.

Give a man a fish…

Eleven months

~ Give a man a fish and you’ve fed him a meal ~ Teach a boy to fish and he’ll have a fly rod in his hand the rest of his life ~

We have a large number of old photos around the house in boxes, folders, files, etc. and my wife and I decided to buy a scanner as a Christmas present to ourselves so we could get them scanned and sorted and into our photo library on the computer. This is the first attempt. It is a photo of myself at the age of 11 months, taken in May of 1942. I still have a fly rod in my hand during these summers now and I can even remember the day that photo was taken. (Still have the same haircut, too!)
