Very pleasant encounter
This little guy paid a visit here this afternoon, which was very surprising because they are highly nocturnal and therefore seldom seen. In fact, this is the only one that I have ever seen. What a thrill to see him right up close!

There’s snow on them thar hills
Baldy Mountain in the Cabinet mountain range in western Montana.
The Coeur d’Alene Mountains in western Montana and eastern Idaho.
All three photos were all taken within the distance of a mile; the first one looking north and the other two looking south.

Settling into winter
After sub-zero temperatures all of Saturday, now the snow has started to come in. After removing about 6 inches of it today, I look forward to seeing even more tomorrow and tomorrow night. What a beautiful winter it is turning out to be! Here are a few pictures from a hike today. If nothing else, I have a very happy dog: he loves the snow!
