The gold shrubs are pretty, too; they’re a nice addition to the landscape. The mix of green and gold trees is appealing, too. The great swaths of gold are beautiful and impressive, but little gold “flecks” here and there make for an equally lovely view.

If the weather is at all good, there are always scenes there that are just begging to be photographed. After I return home from a day out there and upload my photos to the computer I usually delete about half of them and then post less than 10% of the ones that I keep.

I love the colour at this time of year. It won’t be long before you start posting these pics with a dusting of white on the tops or the trees.

Yes, it’s that time of year already. There were patches of snow around the lake and icy places on the road. Won’t be long now!

No, it’s a relatively consistent season. I really like winter with the exception of the few days every year when the temp goes way below zero.

The air has been pretty good lately, with no big fires still burning. The mountains in the distance are about 60 miles away. I love to get up high somewhere and get those long views.

That is a beautiful view, and one that looks like it gets good morning, as well as evening views of the sun on the hills. Nightfall must come early to that side of the ravine where it is dark.
I would love to see some photos of the forest floor with those golden needles from the larch trees. You must see some fall mushrooms like chanterelles coming up amid the fallen needles. I know the wild mushroom hunters have been busy over here in the Cascades this season, and I have been getting them at the farmers’ market. It’s been a good autumn for chanterelles.

We are having some rainy weather right now so I haven’t been out much, but I plan to later this week and will try to get some trail photos with the fallen needles.
This was a fairly good year for the mushroom hunters in the area of large fires the last two summers. I’m not aware of chanterelles in this area. The ones most sought after here are morels, but I have never seen them in the fall. Next time I go out I’ll look for some.

As luck would have it, the colors peaked at a time when the sky was clear. When that happens it’s an amazing place to be.
