Thanks Vicki. I seldom get a photo of butterflies lately because I don’t often carry a telephoto lens much because of the weight. This on was patient enough so I could get close with the macro lens.

Thanks! There are so many really pretty wildflowers, and so many pretty butterflies. The latter are very hard to get to pose though.

I don’t believe I’ve seen a summer Azure before, it doesn’t look like it’s an AZ species.

I usually find phacelia every year, but it isn’t very plentiful here. Beautiful flower though!

I think it is probably a Summer Azure. I see them in about the same numbers as the blues.

Compare the dots on the underside of a Summer Azure (indistinct against a dirty looking background) to Silvery Blue (distinct dots surrounded by white against a clean background). I will bet you one order of local beer, cheese or sausage (I’m in Wisconsin). 🙂
