Montana Outdoors
The smoke certainly adds a different element to the photo.

Yes, without the smoke it would have been almost a monotone photo.

Thanks Sharon. The camera for this photo was a Nikon D80 with an AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G lens.

The wildfires are inconvenient in our timeframe, but necessary to the forests and beneficial in Nature’s timeframe.

This is beautifully framed. I suspect it would be just as beautiful without the smoke and haze spreading the color. The puffs of clouds at the top are a nice addition, too.

I think the clouds give a perspective to the somberness of the fire season. They will eventually bring the solution.

The scene is the water between two sections of rapids just downstream from my house. (Fishing’s good there too!)

I thought “tropical” right away, too. Forest fires make me sad but I understand what you say about the necessity. I still don’t like human caused ones, though.

Usually about 60% of Montana’s fires are human caused, but most this year have been caused by lightning from dry thunder storms.

That natural frame is what made me want to photograph the scene. Of course, around here it’s pretty easy to come by a frame of Ponderosa needles.

There are a lot of scenes like that for those who get out to see them. It’s well worth spending time outdoors and there’s no price for admission. I wish more folks would take advantage of it. I think we’d all get along with each other better if we all got out to enjoy this beautiful world! It provides a much different perspective than all of those headlines.
