    • I just had to document the last clear sky that we will probably see here for the next several weeks. I had hoped to see more snow on the mountain, but there was about four inches in the shady parts of the access road.

    • That mountain is visible from the valley, but nearly a mile higher in elevation. One of my favorite places!

  4. Glad to see you’re out and about; good way to battle cabin fever.

    • It was good to get out again. I’ve been pretty inactive for the last couple of weels.

  5. That’s a beautiful mountain. I think they’re often at their most beautiful after the first snow.

    • They are, especially from up close. I may be able to get on the trail up there in a few days: I hope to.

  8. I really like seeing the “folds” in the mountains that the snow helps to highlight. What kind of temperatures do you have now? I’m sure it’s cold, but this is such a warm image — it really is appealing.

    • There are a lot of fir trees in that area and the color of their needles gives them a warm appearance even when there is snow on the branches. Lately we have been seeing nights in the low twenties and days in the mid thirties in the valley. At the elevation from where the photo was taken, about 10 degrees cooler than that and at the mountain top, about 15 degrees cooler. I hiked through several inches of snow to get the photo and it was not melting there.
