They do produce a small red berry with a rough outside texture. I’m sure I have a photo somewhere but I can’t seem to locate one.

Yes. It grows throughout Canada and most of the western states in the U.S. By luck, the light was perfect for that little flower.

It is in the forest, in a canyon where it doesn’t get much sun. Usually I have to use flash to photograph flowers there, but this time a little sun shone on it.

I enjoyed seeing the photo of the fruit, too. It doesn’t seem nearly as ethereal as the flower, but it’s quite striking. The flower’s name reminds me of a song we used to sing at camp & elsewhere. The fairies and the bells got separated in the lyrics, but that’s all right. “White coral bells upon a slender stalk, lily of the valley deck my garden walk. Oh, don’t you wish that you could hear them ring? That will happen only when the fairies sing!” There hasn’t been a “round” version on youtube, but tonight I found one.
