The photo I posted yesterday reminded me of another morning in 2010 at the top of Eddy Peak located in the Coeur d’Alene mountains overlooking the Clark Fork River valley.
Another lovely view. I could stand on the mountain looking over the cloud cover for hours if I was there.
Reminds me of when I was a small child and our family flew in a 50? seater plane over to the island state of Tasmania to stay with my maternal Grandmother for the summer school holidays. There was something magical about being above the cloud layer. I felt the same in 1975 when I took my first overseas trip to Asia.
I did when I was there and I remember there was an icy wind sweeping over the mountain that day and I had to pull a warmer jacket out of my pack so I could enjoy the scenes longer.
It’s magical to just look at the sky, but even more so to be right up in it.
You’re way above the clouds! Fantastic!

This was 4,500 feet above the valley below those clouds. When I left the valley, it was raining lightly and rained all day.

Thanks Reed. I don’t get to see those conditions every day, but it’s really pretty when I do.

I do. It’s always exciting to go to a place like that, but the best part is just being there.

I know those feelings. They come often on the mountain tops. The high back country is an incredible place.

Well Ron, you know what these mountains can be like! That day just turned out to be spectacular up there while it rained all day down in the valley.

It sure is. The best part is knowing that it’s old growth forest and that it’s doing so well.

I do too. It provides a connection to the Earth that has been all but forgotten now.
