When I left home the mountain top was hidden by clouds. I guessed that the mountain top itself was in the sun. This was the place where the trail climbed above the clouds. A small piece of cloud drifted through the scene as I passed by.
Exactly. I first saw the scene like that, but before I got the camera into action the whiff of cloud had passed. I waited and luckily another came along.
The mist was part of a cloud drifting across the forest. I missed the first opportunity for a photo and luckily had a second chance. It took a quick shot.
We have nice ground fog from time to time, but I’ve never imagined that there is a place where the clouds and the land interact in this way. It’s a beautiful photograph of a true meeting of heaven and earth!
So pretty, a cathedral of sorts.

That trail was created to enable people and supplies to be taken to a fire lookout nearly a century ago. I hike on it often.

Stunning. It’s easy to see streams of light through the trees, but actually quite hard to capture it in a photo.
Well done.

We’ve had much of the same lately. If the rain isn’t too heavy, I go anyway, or go higher, where it is snow instead of rain.

There is always magic when there is mist in the forest, especially if the mist is a cloud passing through. I love to see times like that!
