    • I’ve been very happy this fall that we have had some clear days to emphasize the contrasting colors. It has been a beautiful fall.

    • Sometimes, on partly cloudy days, when the sun suddenly comes and goes it’s like watching a slide show; everything changes.

  6. Whoa, slow that snow! Those autumn leaves are too pretty to cover just now. Looks like you only got a dusting…soon, so soon.

    • The snow there is what remains of about 2 inches that fell over night. It was just enough so that I could see who all had been using the trails, which is always cool. The snow line was about 5,000 feet and none reached the valley floor yet. Soon.

    • Those are interesting parts of the forest. The smaller green trees mixed in with the Larch are young Firs and the tall green ones in the background are Lodgepole Pine. Colorful combination.

    • Thanks. Another instance of being in the right place at the right time. I had just returned to the trail head from a 6 mile hike and the light turned out to be just right there.

  12. Isn’t it wonderful how nature provides such beauty. Your western larch grow in such large stands that put on quite a show in autumn. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything more beautiful. Beyond gorgeous!

    • Most years we don’t get to see much snow while the Larch are yellow. It was nice to see it this way.

    • It is. I think mainly because there is still a lot of land that has not been exploited or tampered with and is still in natural balance.
