The nights are getting cold, there’s a touch of fall in the air, leaves are readying themselves for their autumn pageant of color, but down by the river it’s still summer.

Montana Outdoors 
The shot of the balancing piece of driftwood,… is that from high water washing it up there or did you place it just perfectly so it would balance? I really like the bright blues of the water and sky!

oh!! that’s a beautiful river! I can spend a whole season sitting down there! maybe even more…
I am looking forward to the winters though. However, the summers and winters here are very different from over there, I think! This part at least doesn’t get covered by snow.
Which is a pity, as I’ve never seen snow in my life except during excursions and trips to mountain tops and peaks! 🙂

It is a beautiful river with waters more clean and scenery much more fine than what I have here. I want to experience it.
The microcosms fascinate me too. Even here we have areas within a few miles of each other in which the average winter temperatures vary widely. Water and elevation definitely play a role.
I think each part of the world is beautiful in its own way. You are fortunate to live in a warm climate, Sumedh, but I’ll bet montucky prefers his northern snowy winters. 😛

I love that river. I can see the water from my front window and spend a lot of time down along the river. It’s always great to look at and it changes constantly.
I can imagine that your climate is much different than here. It’s nice to have the four seasons, although I would be just as happy if winter were about 2 months shorter.

Yes, there are some great areas left here in the west. I hope so much that we will be wise enough to preserve them. Ironically, just a moment ago I had to delete a very nasty comment on one of my posts from nearly a year ago. The person was very upset because I was against opening more areas in Yellowstone Park to snowmobile use. There are lots of people who really want to destroy the wild country by using it as a playground for their motor sports. Such people have no concern for nature or for all those folks who will come after them.
You’re right that I do prefer the snowy winters. They have their own beauty and the snow is a constant and vivid reminder of the ways in which nature provides the water that is necessary for life. It also sets the stage for the resurrection that is spring, and makes us appreciate that even more.

Love the poke of flowers in the last photo. Yes, it’s getting cooler…I’ve set my thermostat at 60 degrees and the heat went on last night for the first time this season. Time goes by sooooo fast!

We’re getting some colder nights now too, in the mid thirties, but for this week the daytime temps are nearing the nineties. Quite a daily swing for now, and then suddenly we’ll be starting the wood stove.
