Sometimes I get lucky! It’s interesting to see they all had their tails fanned out displaying the white band across them. They’re sure pretty to look at, and I never get tired of hearing them.
I had a nice visit to the river today. The next photo in sequence was of a very nice Big Horn ram. It’s worth it to me to get out in even the worst weather because you never know what you’ll run into.

I wouldn’t mind wading out there either, if I couldn’t feel temperature with my feet!
Did you startle them, or were they flying away anyway?

Sumedh,
That’s a good word for these big guys, I think.

Adam,
Yes, it’s rare to see the white like that, maybe because it’s a quick flash and the camera stopped the action.

wolf,
I flushed them. I’ve noticed that this particular group is wilder than others, maybe because they share this stretch of river with two families of bald eagles, although I’ve never seen the eagles go after them. Them seem to be very sensitive to any movement above them, even at quite a distance.

silken,
Yes, that is much warmer water! I presume that is along the gulf, right? Those photos are nice to see! I could use a nice long stroll along there right about now.

silken,
It has been a long time since I saw flat country, except for the eastern part of Montana, and even then the mountains can be seen far in the distance. I could probably only take a short time of it.

Thanks, winterwoman. I was pleased that I got it at all. I’m not very good at all at photographing birds.

Really must get a train up to Scotland with my bike and go cycling somewhere on the West Coast. Great photos! 🙂
