The Coeur d’Alenes 1/28

Coeur d'Alene Mountains

It was so good to see a bit of blue sky today over the Coeur d’Alenes. January has largely been a dark gray month here. There was blue sky on the 6th and 8th and a little blue showing through a week ago.

The Coeur d’Alenes

The Coeur d’Alene Mountains are old friends that I see every day, and yet they are new each morning and change throughout each day. For the last week the skies have been dark, there has been rain, snow, sleet, fog and in general, every kind of condition hostile to photography. The week before Christmas was different, and here are a couple shots of the mountains during that period of cold arctic air.

On such days, following deer trails is an enjoyable pastime, although a tiring one in snow not quite deep enough for snowshoes and almost too deep without.
