Would that be good snow-shoeing snow? I can imagine being out there, trekking away in that gorgeous landscape, but I’m not sure it would be practical. We did a lot of sledding, ice-skating, and hiking in snow, but snowshoes weren’t a “thing” when I was growing up. On the other hand, friends from Minnesota did it a lot. I wonder what made the difference. I especially like that second photo, but I’m a sucker for barbed wire fences generally.

It is good for snow shoeing now that it has packed down a bit, but I haven’t been out yet. Depending on the weather I’d like to go in to a frozen waterfall a couple dozen miles from here in the next week or so. I went in there on snow shoes a decade ago and really enjoyed it. We’ll see!

Yes, we’ve gotten all of the snow we need for this year. There’s still much more in the forecast, too. In the last several years there were buttercups in bloom by this time. Interesting year!

Locally they say that we’re just a little more than normal. With all the rain, California is now out of the drought that has been plaguing them for several years. We’re doing well!

A clear sky in winter can produce some beautiful scenery, but it also signifies a very cold temperature. As far as I’m concerned though, it’s worth it!

Happy Snow Days! Guess what!? We got between 2-3 inches of snow at our place in AZ. Tough on the trees because they are all leafed out. The palo verde were hit the hardest. Also our pepper tree. Our grapefruit tree shrugged it off. The hummingbirds were a bit miffed…

That’s a lot of snow for Arizona (unless you consider Flagstaff). I can remember only two years when I saw traces of snow on the saguaros outside of Phoenix.

It is. The top of the mountain is nearly a mile above the valley, and that snow up there won’t all melt until into July.

Air from the Arctic has moved in over this area and if is very pure and cold. I love when that happens, but the cold can be severe.
