  4. By chance, is this same general area where you took the photo on that rainy day? The sandbar and the rocks look the same, as does that tree on the right, even though the vantage point is a little different. What a difference a couple of months can make. Both images are beautiful; I love seeing a place in all its seasons.

    • Yes, the same area. The scenes change with the seasons and weather. I’m glad that I live so close to the river. Today was rainy and quite dark, so scenery was at a premium. Usually this time of year we have lots of snow and ice on the river. Just around the bend in the photo the backwater was iced over, but usually there’s much more. Strange winter!

  5. A beautiful winter scene, Montucky! It’s been a strange winter here too, a bit mild so far, but I am waiting to see what January brings us.

    • Thanks Lavinia! I’m hoping for real winter to arrive in January, and here, February is usually our coldest month. There’s sure to be some of the beauty of winter in there somewhere.

  8. It looks like winter is just getting started, but you still have a lot more snow than we do. No ice on the river must mean you’ve been relatively warm as well.

  10. Oh how I love winter snow scenes! And this one fits the bill quite nicely. Still rainy here with no snow. 😦

    • Rain isn’t the issue here at the moment. It’s supposed to be 5 degrees tonight. Should be pretty tomorrow and the stars are bright tonight.

  13. Very beautiful photos. We have had snow and warm. Yesterday a winter storm, which caused that yet today there are many households without electricity. This morning the temperature in Helsinki was -9℃ / 16℉.

    Happy new year 2019.

    • Thanks Reed! It’s one of many beautiful scenes along the Clark Fork River which is a river that I grew up with and have enjoyed for over 70 years. The scenes change continually with the seasons and weather conditions. I will never tire of it.

    • It’s pretty now in early winter. Some time in the next two months though I would expect to see the water completely frozen over there with a heavy coat of snow over it.
