Montana Outdoors
That sapphire sky overwhelms the mountains! I love the “cragyness” of these mountains.They’re newer mountains that point sharply at the sky.

Yes, they are “newer”, very rocky and steep. The taller ones are over 10,000 feet.

It was pretty, but I was not entirely happy with the light. It is supposed to clear up again in a few days and I will try again.

Not a gas station in sight. This is what makes Montana so beautiful. Miles and miles of natural landscape.

I think I heard that that snow pack is about 130% of normal which will mean there will probably be snow on those peaks all summer long this year.

The name “Montana” comes from Spanish and means “mountains”. I have loved these all of my life.

It’s beautiful scenery, but difficult to show it in perspective. The photos was taken from an elevation of about 2,500 feet: the tall peaks are 20 miles away and nearly 10,000 feet.

If the weather is as good as it is forecast to be over the next few days I plan to take some pictures of the peaks from much closer.

It’s a fairly small range of mountains, but a very pretty one. A lot of it has wilderness designation too.

It’s a beautiful range. I noticed the cragginess, too. Those sharp peaks truly do make for a wonderful photo. The bit I read about them mentioned three-sided, or pyramidal peaks — that would be something to see. I hope you get your weather and your skies for a closer look.

I’ll see what the weather permits. One of my favorite viewing spots for the Missions is from what is called “Red Sleep Mountain Drive”, a road that loops through the National Bison Range, but because of snow that road doesn’t open until mid to late May.
