I’m hoping we have skies clear enough tonight to see the full moon. If we don’t, I’ll just come back and enjoy yours again. It’s a great photo — such clarity.
The blue cast of the photo came from a blue ring around the moon caused by high altitude ice crystals. There were actually three different color rings around it but I had little success capturing them. I was surprised that I couldn’t get them and surprised again at how clearly the moon itself showed up.
How is the weather out there? We have had frigid sub zero temperatures for about two weeks but today it warmed up to 22. Tomorrow we are getting a snowstorm.
Mostly nights from single digits to the teens and high teens in the day. We have had pretty good snow levels off and on with only a few sub-zero nights so far. Our coldest month is February though.
Wolf Moon!

I wish I were a little closer to the mountains tonight so I could listen to them howl.

Terry:
I bet you were out there howling at the moon. Good for you.

It was a low, rather quiet howl that didn’t disturb the complete quiet of the night.

It is! There is a lot of beauty in the world if we are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to see it.

Yes, that’s just a tad bit too cold for clicking a shutter!

There were three rings around the moon that night, the closest being the blue one. Hence the blue cast to the moon.
