  2. That deer has a pretty good coat on for the winter.

    • She seems to be staying pretty close around the place where it is relatively safe.

    • We had a full moon out here most of the night. Lots of snow and lots of trees down. A friend about 10 miles away had no power all night. Thank goodness for wood heat!

  6. Terry:
the best we can do is fog and a few squirrels under the bird feeder.

    • That little deer and a few turkeys is about all that isn’t frozen to the ground today.

      Happy New Year!

  7. Nice shots! I hope it’s warmer there than it is here. We’ve had several double digit below zero nights and I hate to think how our deer must be suffering.
    Have a great 2018!

    • It’s warmer here but we had heavy snow with a light rain in between and hundreds of trees are down and the roads are like an ice rink. Rather normal Montana winter.
Happy New Year to you and your family!

  8. That’s a nice looking deer. It’s obvious that its coat is heavier than ours just now — although I suspect ours might be wishing for a bit more coat with the temperatures we’re going to have this week: 20s and windchills around 0-10F. Nippy! But at least the strong, gale force north winds are clearing out the skies. We may have a good view of the moon tomorrow night. If it’s clear, I’ll bundle up and go look, although I may or may not try for photos. With the plants inside and the winter clothes found, it’s time to huddle for a bit. Sorry to hear about that ice, and the downed trees. Even if it’s standard operating procedure, it’s no fun.

    • Those are cold temperatures for you. The fawn would be almost too warm there, but hopefully quite comfortable here. I just got some very cold fingers trying to get a good picture of tonight’s moon (at 16º).

    • I wish you and your family a great New Year too! The cold is enjoyable knowing that there is a warm fire in the wood stove.

  12. Lovely shot of the deer.
We had the special moon about 15 minutes ago, but i completely forgot to go outdoors and photograph it. I daresay it’s still there, but I’m immersed in a favourite tv show now 🙂

  15. Now in mid-January central Texas is pretending to be Montana, at least as much as our region ever can be. For the last 30 hours or so the temperature has stayed below freezing and a breeze blew all day yesterday.

    • That’s a little harsh for you folks down there, but unlike here the low temps probably won’t stay long.

      • You’re right. The temperature rose above freezing this afternoon and will stay that way. The weather forecast is predicting a high of 71° a few days from now.

        • I don’t think we would survive a day of 71º this time of year!
