I’ve heard there’s been some snow – any near you yet? Good to see something other than smoke, I bet!

Yes, it’s a pleasure to see the clouds hanging around the bottoms of the mountains as it should in Fall, instead of that incessant smoke. We can see a little snow on the taller mountains here, above about 7,000 feet.

There are about a thousand people in this local area who are reall relieved to see the weather shift and rain. Now they can return to their homes and relax a bit!

Happy for you. I know that feeling exactly. We’ve had several rainy days and the smoke has backed off. So good to breathe the cleaner air again.

We haven’t received a whole lot of rain, but enough to make a big difference (along with the colder temps).

It’s been so good to see a bit of moisture. We all love a sunny day, but this summer it was too much of a good thing.

I agree. THere is usually a hot and dry time in summer, but this year it was more than twice as bad.

It’s a lot prettier with the fog and mist rather than the smoke! Feels and smells better too!

I’m so glad to hear about the improvement (in the fires)
The fog/mist over the river makes for a very moody scene and well worth a photo. I imagine all the local residents around the major fires are hoping for an early snowfall this year.

I will bet that there will be a week or two with the cold temps from this weather front, then warm up to seasonal norms and we’ll have a nice Indian summer.

I’ve been enjoying the photos of the snow at higher elevations, and hoping that you were profiting from the higher moisture levels. It’s so nice to see such a lovely photograph, and to know that in your neck of the woods, at least, there is some autumnal change happening. We have to wait a while, but if the temperatures would drop even into the sixties, there’s so much moisture around that we’d at least have ground fog. I really like the way you’ve captured the reflection of the trees despite the fog.

I’ve seen snow on the mountains here over 7,000 feet but haven’t yet had a chance to hike up to it. Hopefully in the next couple of days. The temperatures and the humidity are good but the fire crews still have work to do before they are off for the year. It will be interesting when the fire area closures are lifted and I can hike up into the burn and see what it’s like up there too.

That’s a big relief. Smoke doesn’t especially bother me, but I sure felt sorry for those who could barely tolerate it. That was a terrible thing for them!

It’s about over for this year. Soon the cold will be the distraction. I went up and hiked in the snow for awhile today in celebration. It really felt good!

Excellent photo. Foggy weather are general in Finland in fall when the weather is warm. So it is now even in Helsinki.

We also have a lot of fog in the fall. This year it was especially welcome because it broke the heat wave and provided much needed moisture to help with the fires.
