    • That’s a place to which I can return every day or two and always find something special, especially a little later in the summer.

  6. Yes, the orchid is lovely. But that photo of the trail just knocks me out. I’ve already printed it out and have it tacked on the refrigerator. Starting today, I’m going to get serious about getting myself in shape, so that in a year, or two, I’ll be ready to hike that trail should the opportunity present itself. I’ve been muttering about wishing I could visit the West, but if I’m going to do it, I need to be prepared. That photo is some of the best motivation I’ve found!

    • As you know I love the mountain trails and usually prefer the high ones that come along with distant views over the surrounding forests and mountains, I visit this trail perhaps most often of all even though it doesn’t have those views (and the lower part of it is an easy trail) but it has many species of flowers and plants and somehow makes me feel as though the forest is surrounding me like a warm quilt on a cold winter night.

  8. We’re supposed to have coral root here but I never see any. It’s a pretty little thing.
That looks like a great trail to wander on.
