He is the best companion I could ask for. Somehow he loves those trails just as much as I do and always behaves commendably.

Always good to have a companion who loves the outdoors as much as you do. But dare I suggest it’s better to have a silent companion (like your faithful hound) who doesn’t make a sound to spoil the sounds of nature. On the rare times I go for a walk with a friend, they seem to like to talk pretty much non-stop and I miss the sound of the wind in the trees and the bird song as I’m caught up paying attention to the friend’s conversation.

I hadn’t really thought about that, but you are certainly right. He also doesn’t bring up politics. This guy seems to be right where I want him all of the time and I don’t have to be watching him all of the time. He is an amazing dog!

Don’t get me wrong. I love my small circle of friends (who I rarely see I might add as they bush walk, hike and travel interstate and overseas so much), but I love the sound of nature more than human chatter. 🙂

It’s good to often get away from the hustle and bustle and noise and confusion. I love being in the wilderness where I can relax and enjoy the sights and the sounds and the smells with no interruptions. The sound of the wind in the trees or the sound of a stream, or just the haunting sound of complete silence is what I need.

What a fabulous photo, Terry. He even has on a green color, to better coordinate with his surroundings! I think of you two now and then when I listen to the hunting and fishing show on radio here, and the guys start talking about their gun dogs. They do love those dogs, just as you do. It’s amusing to hear them talk about their personalities, and the training regimens. But there’s no doubt that the fellows who have a really good dog, like you do, count their blessings.

It is easy to get attached to a good dog. This one is now my best friend and we have a lot of mutual trust and respect.I am sad when I think of how many wonderful animals like him are in shelters just waiting for the right person to come along.

Yes, above 6,900 feet there are still deep snow banks, even deeper on the north sides of the peaks.

That’s Buster. He is the best trail dog I’ve ever seen, and he’s happiest when on a high trail.
