We received 18 inches of snow about two weeks ago then a warming that made it all but disappear. Two days ago about three inches fell so it’s white and quite cold now …
18 inches is a lot! This was or first real snow (and there’s more on the way) and it’s beautiful! We have some of that cold visiting now too, with a few nights forecast for sub-zero.

Send some of that white stuff our way. Yesterday we received just enough snow to cover the grass, more would be appreciated but only if I don’t have to drive in it. Will send recent “snow” photos.
There is a special magic in the snow. Besides enjoying the beauty I think of the snow pack that is building in the high country to provide our water supply for the next year. It also gives me a chance to see in the morning who all visited the place during the night.
How lovely! And it looks so magical with your falling snow effect on top! No snow here (after the November sprinkling) but we’ve had some sharp frosts.
We’ve had about 7 inches so far and more is on the way. Today I hiked into the forest and it was beautiful up there! Now we have some sub-zero (F) temps coming for the next week. Oh well, it’s winter!
I’ve been sitting here wondering why, if snow is such a good insulator, there always are photos of people sweeping it off their roofs in the northeast. I finally decided that it has to do with pitch. Maybe there are areas that have roofs that are too flat to support the weight of a wet snow.
In any case, yours is beautiful — and I’m glad it’s helping you cocoon. This really is a Christmas-card snow: what a lucky fellow you are. The photos are just lovely.
I know that there are many homes with roofs that are not engineered for heavy snow loads. My roof has a very steep pitch to it and is built for a heavy snow load, but when the snow gets deep I still rake most of it off the roof just to be sure.
We nave now received about 8 inches in the last two days and it is snowing heavily tonight: the forecast is for up to 7 more inches during the night and 2 to 4 more tomorrow.
What a beautiful house in a wonderful setting ! No snow here yet but like these past years it may fall between Christmas and New Year’s day. Let’s hope so !
Were it possible, I think we would be happy to share some of the snow with you. We are expecting more probably late next week now. There is a cold air mass at ground level and it will get very cold before more snow comes. I love the snow for its beauty and knowing that it will form a deep snow pack in the mountains.

That’s the time it’s good to have a full pantry, stocked with all the basics, plenty of firewood, and at least one match.

Exactly! I haven’t had to use a match on the stove for weeks now, just let it burn down to coals and reload.

I liked your photos. It decorated your place very nicely but you didn’t have to spend time with the snow blower!

Lucky you!! All we’ve had is some dusting. It’s cold but not much white stuff. Your place is just lovely in its blanket of white.

This was the first real snow we’ve had and I am enjoying it very much. Also nice to have about 6 inches of insulation on the roof!

It looks like you got 2 or 3 inches anyway. It’s a start!
They say tomorrow night and Monday will be our turn.
