Hi Montucky, So refreshing to see snowy scenery in your picture. It is going to get a tiny bit cooler here in Central FL in coming days, too! I will be glad for upper 70s and very low 80s. Have a great day tomorrow!

It’s a little cooler here than in Florida now! When I took that picture it was probably in the low 20’s.

It does, but you have to stay careful to stay dry. Kind of hard on the shutter finger though!

Kind of the way you would think a snowy forest should look? I wish I could post the wind and the feel of the falling snow.

It was chilly. There was no snow at the trail head at 5,400 feet. Then up the trail we ran into snow at 6,000 feet and by the time we reached the peak at 6,900 feet there was quite a bit. On top of the peak there was a pretty good buildup of ice on the rock.

Beautiful. If those politicians battling for office these days would only let such images sink in deep, …it might do the country and the people of this planet some good.

It’s just splendid. It’s also the kind of country that makes the photographs even more special. Getting around the Flint Hills off anything that resembles a beaten path has brought home just how careful we have to be in those conditions. Things I’ve learned or recalled on this trip probably would make you laugh. For example: gravel roads can be treacherous. Brake too fast on a downhill run,and you might as well be on ice. And those bur acorns and rocks covered up with leaves? Well, let’s just say I’m hoping the bruises will fade before I get home! Stay safe out there on those trails!

Yes, in outdoor conditions you have to be much more careful than usual. I know what you mean about gravel roads, especially those that have washboard sections. The bounce can take you right off the road. We don’t have acorns here, but conifer cones and snow over branches will take you down very quickly too. Sounds like you’re having a good time! I’m glad!
