These have been blooming for quite some time already, but this one was growing in the deep shade of the Spring Creek canyon. I think I broke all of the usual rules of correct exposure, but it worked and the photo is what I wanted.
Isn’t that a pretty thing? I’m so glad you were able to find some, and I really like this image. It makes the shady spots that violets love tangible, and the color just shines.
Lovely shot, Terry, (and rules are meant to be broken 🙂 )

Thanks Vicki. Usually the best rules are “whatever works”.

Thanks Anneli. The sun has never touched that one.

It’s a rich colour on such a delicate flower.

It makes me wonder if perhaps they can be bleached by the sun.

It seems quite likely.

Thanks Linda! That little plant chose to grow in the quintessential forest violet setting and it was much larger than all of the other violets too.

I thought it was one of the prettiest that I’ve ever seen. It was well hidden in the undergrowth.

I sure don’t see anything wrong with it-it’s beautiful! I’ve never seen as many violets as we have here this year.

That one is growing in deep shade and it was so pretty I just had to try for a picture.

Ah, sweet little violet. So much prettier in nature than even on my teacup collection (I’ve got several with violets on them).

The grass in my yard was nearly covered with violets this spring and of course I couldn’t mow those places, but the wild ones seem extra special.
