  1. Even though I hate spiders, I have to admit, that web makes a beautiful photo. What a work of art for a small creature to achieve.

    • I am always amazed at the art and ability of those small creatures. And humbled by knowing that they can do something I could never in the world do myself.

  2. I can’t stand spiders and I just totally freak out when I walk into a web. BUT, their webs are so fascinating and do make really cool photos. Of course, you’ve captured a great one!

    • I admire the webs, but then I do like spiders. They have never bothered me though and they do take care of a lot of other more annoying insects.

  6. Beautiful. I often wonder if spiders realise how fabulously they weave.

    • That’s an interesting thought! I wonder if they do. I’ve often thought that mule deer like the views from where they live and that’s why they choose those places.

  7. I found a fantastic orb weaver a few weeks ago. I still haven’t ID’d it, but it shouldn’t be terribly difficult, since it looks like it’s carrying the shell of a hermit crab for an abdomen! My photos aren’t the best, but I’m going to give the people at BugGuide a whirl. I nearly broke the poor thing’s web, walking into it. At least this one isn’t at ground level, and is more visible.

    • There was no creator in sight for this web, but the design is one that I see frequently. Perhaps as the summer goes by I will be able to identify it.

    • That was one of those things that, once seen, have to be photographed. And, I think webs are awesome.

  9. Beautiful capture! Spiders are truly amazing, their webs are created with such perfection. As long as they are at a distance from me…. ‘cuz I am petrified of spiders!

    • Spider webs are one of nature’s fascinations. There are only a few species of spider that I don’t care for because they are poisonous, but they have never bothered me. They actually remove a lot of insects that I do find annoying, and many spiders are very pretty.

    • Perhaps that’s a “Thank you” from a spider who I have left alone.

    • Our air here, especially in the mornings, is often very clear and pure so there are few particles in it to refract the light.

    • I saw the little guy who made this web and he is one of the ones that troubles no one. Insects however, are in big trouble!
