  1. I hope you have enough wood in stock for the winter. Nice view in the photo.

    • Yes, thanks, I have about 4 1/2 cords and I will be cutting more. The wood stove really feels good on these cold nights! Today I cleaned and serviced my chain saw and installed a brand new bar, chain and sprocket. It cuts like a dream!

      • Good to have that chain saw ready to go.

        • I like to keep it in prime shape. Up here it may be needed any time. A few winters ago I was glad it was ready when a tree came down completely across the highway.

  2. What an interesting shot. The left hand side almost looks like the smoke of a bush fire, but then…..there’s the snow on the ground of course.

Last time I was above the clouds was in January 1978 while going up a cable car in Austria. Isn’t it funny how I can remember that and yet not what I did yesterday 🙂

    • That’s an experience that I don’t forget either, although I see it fairly often, especially in spring and fall. I thought I might be able to climb up and see some snow today but the temperature stayed warm overnight and we had a little rain.

  3. I love the beauty of winter but not the work that comes with it. We’ve had two harsh ones in a row and last year I must have shoveled my roof 7 or 8 times. Even so, it’s a beautiful time of year.

    • I remember you had a heavy snow year there last winter. My house has a very steep pitched roof and steel instead of shingles, so the snow slides off. I do have to rake the snow off my wood pile cover though and of course clear the walk and driveway. A snow blower is a great machine! After a deep snow I also take the blower down to the mail boxes and clear that out for the mail lady too. If it’s all right with you, I’ll take the snow this year and you can have a warm, mild winter!

    • We should have snow here in the valleys next week. It will be a relief after the hot summer we had.

    • I think most folks here look forward to winter. Snow sports are very popular, and our forests and rivers depend on a deep winter snow pack to remain healthy for the rest of the year.

  9. Soon there will also be winter in Sweden. I can enjoy it when in my country home but it’s a plague in Stockholm.

  10. What a glorious combination of elements in your photo. Green, blue, and white is such a beautiful combination, and the obvious crispness of the air is an added delight. I hope you get your snow, for sure — especially since you’ve got a nice stash of wood already, and a well-working chainsaw to go with it.

    • When I encounter conditions as they were that day, I take a lot of pictures, and I enjoy reviewing them quite often too. Life for me here is very basic and simple and I think that enhances the enjoyment of nature and her variety of presentations.

    • We are expecting snow sometime in the next few days. It will be pretty with the fall colors and probably will melt quickly.

    • I generally like winter except for the very end of it, but then spring is starting to break out and all is good again.
