It was, and it wasn’t. Strange day. When I got to the trail the sky had clouded over and gotten quite dark. The trail followed a stream in a deep canyon part of the way and it was very humid and very cold: parts of the trail were frozen. Unfortunately, the clouds persisted all of the time I was at the lake, very poor for photos, then by the time I arrived home in late afternoon the sky cleared and the sun was warm.
Yes, I think there’s a small ranch about there. The colors were exceptionally bright for our sunrises here, perhaps because of the location from which I took the photo, about 20 miles from my home.
I am still lazing about and drinking coffee about this time.. I see what I am missing out on…

So beautiful – just the silhouettes of the trees on the skyline to give a sense of the scale!

The scale seemed exceptional for a sunrise, and I arrived just about at the peak of color.

That must have been left over from last night’s beautiful sunset.

The colors are a little surprising now that most of the smoke has cleared away.

One of these days I have to drag myself out of bed and capture a good sunrise. Or maybe I’ll just look at yours! 😉

Awesome. So maybe AZ only has the second best sunrises/sets. We did have a good one last night.

I don’t think Arizona sunsets can be beat, but once in a while here there will be a spectacular one.
