    • We are enjoying some good weather now although there is still a lot of haze and smoke in the air. It is near perfect hiking weather. The sun was fairly warm at the peak, but there was frost on the shady parts of the trail near the top.

  3. Well, this is a beautiful treat, anyway…and that does sound like perfect hiking weather, warm at the peak, but with frost in the shade. My kind of day. 🙂

  4. Amazing Montana. How many ways can a person say it? Your photos do the natural beauty of the place justice.

    • I’ve always been thankful for a camera. It helps other folks to see some of the beauty of Montana’s high places and back country, places where many could never go.

    • I’ve got two mre days of hiking and then I will try to show the highlights of these hikes and then plan more next week. Winter is coming, you know!

  6. My favorite tree in the photo is that little one that’s tucked itself into the shelter of the rock, right there in the middle. It has such an intimate feel, in the midst of all that grandeur.

    • Trees are amazing, aren’t they. That little one is sheltered from the wind and should do just fine.

    • I’m glad that you enjoy the scenes. So few people visit there to see them.

    • It is one of my favorites. That peak is 4 miles from the nearest road and the only sounds are those of the wind blowing through the trees.

  9. Did you encounter any other people on this hike? More generally, when you’re out on your hikes, how often do you run into other hikers?

    • We didn’t encounter anyone on this hike, nor did we on the following two hikes. In fact, only once this summer did I encounter anyone on the trails. I suppose it’s mostly because I prefer hiking in the more remote areas, most of which are not popular (or well known) with tourists and partly too because I usually hike during the week rather than on weekends. Solitude deep in the back country and wilderness is something that I cherish.
