    • Thanks Jane. Our days have for so long been gray and rainy, but today I took a chance and went up high just to get into the snow and the sky opened up. Three hours of hiking through scenery like this renewed my soul!

    • This was the first real sun here in weeks, but it was very welcome! Not strong yet but I feel better knowing that the days are getting longer and the sun will start warming up a bit too. There was a light wind above about 5000 feet which brought the chill factor down a bit, but even the chill felt good.

    • Merry Christmas, Malcolm! Here we’re trying to get past the rain and get into winter. To do that today I had to get up around 6000 feet.

    • Thanks! These were at a little higher elevation, but I think by Christmas we will have snow in the valley too.

    • Merry Christmas to you! It was looking like this would be the first Christmas here in several decades when there was no snow, but snow is predicted for Christmas eve.

  9. We’re in dense fog here, waiting for a front to bring us some blue skies. Since we’ll not have such beautiful, crisp snow to go with them, it’s a special pleasure to see your photos.   12. I was just reminded by a blurb on Turner Classic Movies that the 1947 musical “Finian’s Rainbow” is set in the state of Missitucky. Judging by the two pictures in your post, I’m sure Missitucky isn’t as mountainous and doesn’t get as much snow as the Montucky you’ve shown here today.

    • We are just getting started with our winter snow. The snow depth where these photos were taken was about a foot and a half. By Christmas morning, that could almost double.

    • I’m afraid snow and Melbourne would not get along well together. Here in rural areas, snow is natural and we are all used to it and prepared for it. There is always a struggle in the cities where the incompetence and cumbersomeness of government make things more difficult than they should be.

      I hope you have a pleasant and peaceful Christmas and that you will have improved health in the coming year! I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing your photos and reading your thoughts this year and look forward to much more!
