Montana Outdoors
Lovely – you feel as if you are breathing in the mist from this photo. The trees have such a wonderful presence!! There must be such a feeling of serenity in these woods.

There is certainly that serenity there. It is in a roadless area where there is still a chance that the accomplishments of nature over millions of years might be protected. It ties us to our planet, our home.

Several species of fir and spruce, many species of pine and also hemlock and larch. Those old-growth forests are environmental treasures!

This far western part of Montana is not all that far from the coast as the weather flows. We do share a lot of the same fauna with the mountains of Washington.

The transitional seasons can be amazing. Sometimes it’s hard to tell autumn from spring, particularly in your world. I do love seeing the trails looping off into the distance. The urge to “get going” is strong!

In these conifer forests there is much similarity between spring and fall.
The trails are especially inviting at those times. I wonder just how many times I have followed that trail during the past twenty years (my photo library from there contains over 600 photos) and perhaps I don’t want to know how many more times there will be: that number keeps dwindling.
Eternity is a very long time, and it is my hope that I will spend an infinite amount of it visiting that place and many others quite like it.

Our weather at the moment is excellent for hiking. The problem is getting to any of the high trail heads.

Yes, the changes are almost daily now, while our night temperatures are in the teens. Soon it will settle into the longness of winter.
