Very pretty. I think you notice those gorgeous fall colours more when they’re intermingled between the deep greens of other trees.

It does produce nice contrasting colors. So far, the Aspens have changed color and much of the lower growing shrub type vegetation. The big Cottonwoods have not changed and the Larch is just starting to turn.

I hate to see the summer go, but the fall colours take some of the pain away. Beautiful photos!

It was a hard summer here, so very hot. I was not sorry for it to end. This is turning into a terrific autumn now; the Indian summer that I hoped for!

I wondered if you had much color there, and it looks like you have plenty. Do you have a lot of deciduous trees or are they mostly evergreens and larches?

The colors are just starting, although some have nearly finished while others are barely starting. We have a few native maples, although they are not widespread and quite small. We have Aspens and Black Cottonwood and I think the Larch is considered deciduous as well. The rest of the color is from bushes and shrubs. We get reds and oranges from hawthorn and chokecherry, elderberry gives us gold and yellow and there are a few sumac around.

I go down there often because there is always something interesting of pretty there. I have also fished that stretch or river for over 60 years, and we have had many good meals from it.

It is a close place of refuge for me. There are places where i can sit under some big pines where I cannot be seen and just watch whatever wildlife is out and about. It is especially pleasant when it is raining.

Autumn is making an appearance I see. It’s in different stages here too. Not fully blown yet some leaves already falling. Still my favorite season, hands down. 🙂

You know how I keep muttering about mountains? Yesterday I learned there are mountains in southeast Oklahoma and Arkansas. Granted, they’re not the Rockies, but they’re gorgeous – and they have a bit of fall color, too. I’m a little early, but that’s ok. I agree that scenes like the ones you’ve captured here have a real charm. Seeing one or two trees or shrubs, vibrant with color in the midst of the green, can be just as appealing as entire flaming hillsides. Beautiful!

I have lived in five states, only one of which was east of the Mississippi, but I found wild beauty in each of them each being different from the others. It’s always there if we only go out to see it!

Hi Montucky, Pretty views of the reds, oranges, yellows and purples of those shrubs, and smaller trees. Very lovely. I miss seeing the Fall colors in person. Thanks for the virtual views. Have a really fine day and enjoy the scenery!

We are having rather unusual conditions this year. Some trees have already turned color and lost their leaves while others of the same species have not even changed yet. I don’t know what to make of it.

We are in a nice Indian Summer right now. Nights around 30 and days in the 50’s. Many trees haven’t turned color yet, but the Larch are starting to get bright.

In western New England most of the trees have lost their leaves save oaks and beech. It was a spectacular year for colors; the best in a long time. I’m betting on a snowy winter, but I’ve been wrong about this before. Beautiful, beautiful photographs!

Some trees here have lost their leaves while other os the same species are still green. Most of the Larch are turning colors, right now, but yesterday a wind came up and several showered me with needles already. The Black Cottonwoods are still green. When I get caught up a bit I’ll post some photos from a hike I made yesterday. It wasn’t a nice clear day, but a few of the Larch are bright yellow. I’m hoping for a good snow year here too. Last year was about normal in the high country but very light in the valleys.
