    • Maybe that’s why I liked it, it presents the idea of a creature.

  2. It certainly isn’t what one would see in a photo like this.Talk about power. What the universe has is still a mystery. Cool picture..

  3. WoW! That’s an amazing photo! Did you take it on 4th of July this year? It looks like a creature.

    • Yes, the county fairgrounds had a fireworks show. This was taken from about a mile away. I took about 50 and most turned out pretty well; this one has haunted me though.

  4. Did you photoshop it? It looks like a giant electric caterpillar. Great shot!

    • No, I don’t have photoshop. It was a 4 second (handheld, believe it or not) exposure at f/9.8, ISO125. I had not tried shooting fireworks before. An electric caterpillar is a good description!

      • The sky is so black behind it. Hand held? Very good!

        • I like the black background. We have very little light pollution here and there was just a mountain range behind the fireworks.

  7. I didn’t have much luck getting shots of fireworks this year-first time I ever tried with a digital camera. This one is excellent.

    • This was the first time I’ve tried to shoot fireworks too. I was surprised by several of them.

  14. I can see why! That is one cool shot. Sometimes fireworks pictures all look alike to me, but not this one, it’s definitely unique.

    • Just lucky. Out of about 50, there were only a couple that looked like the usual fireworks shots. Now if I can remember how I did it.

  17. It’s a beautiful capture. I didn’t see the caterpillar until others mentioned it. Instead, I saw a lovely blossom with spiderwebs clinging. We had some nice fireworks here this year – I always enoy them so much.

    • I’m finding it very interesting seeing what folks see in the image. Kind of fun! I enjoy fireworks here because there is no hustle and bustle involved. I drove 3 miles to get a clear look at the sky over the fairgrounds and that was it; no one even around me.

  23. That is very unique. I’ve never really tried them either as setting up a tripod at night with a lot of cats around is problematic. Remembering the settings is difficult…
