Yes, the county fairgrounds had a fireworks show. This was taken from about a mile away. I took about 50 and most turned out pretty well; this one has haunted me though.
No, I don’t have photoshop. It was a 4 second (handheld, believe it or not) exposure at f/9.8, ISO125. I had not tried shooting fireworks before. An electric caterpillar is a good description!
It’s a beautiful capture. I didn’t see the caterpillar until others mentioned it. Instead, I saw a lovely blossom with spiderwebs clinging. We had some nice fireworks here this year – I always enoy them so much.
I’m finding it very interesting seeing what folks see in the image. Kind of fun! I enjoy fireworks here because there is no hustle and bustle involved. I drove 3 miles to get a clear look at the sky over the fairgrounds and that was it; no one even around me.
That is very unique. I’ve never really tried them either as setting up a tripod at night with a lot of cats around is problematic. Remembering the settings is difficult…
It looks like a creature made entirely of light and energy… love it.

Maybe that’s why I liked it, it presents the idea of a creature.

It certainly isn’t what one would see in a photo like this.Talk about power. What the universe has is still a mystery. Cool picture..

The sky is so black behind it. Hand held? Very good!

I like the black background. We have very little light pollution here and there was just a mountain range behind the fireworks.

I didn’t have much luck getting shots of fireworks this year-first time I ever tried with a digital camera. This one is excellent.

This was the first time I’ve tried to shoot fireworks too. I was surprised by several of them.

Just lucky. Out of about 50, there were only a couple that looked like the usual fireworks shots. Now if I can remember how I did it.

You probably had more of a display there, but this one was pretty nice. At the Sanders County fair grounds in Plains.
