Montana Outdoors
Bowing to the setting season, soon to be falling into the falling. What a grand time of year, in my way of thinking. The trees are putting on quite the show in Wisconsin! WIll you be having a grand autumn tree show, too, Terry?

I think you have had more rain this summer than we have. I’m a little concerned about the Fall colors here this year. It has been horribly hot and dry for over two months now and many of the trees and other plants are in distress, so it may not be as colorful as usual. I hope to be getting out more frequently now for awhile though I’ll see!

Headed to the mountains this weekend and next to enjoy the changing seasons. My boots are ready to touch the earth and my eyes are ready to take in all that nature has to offer. Your blog and pictures keep me going in between my travels. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful part of our country.

Yes! That little plant lives just above the water line by the river and it is nearly completely obscured by a group of scrubby willows, but upon a closer look it is very pretty. We always have to look closely, don’t we!

Yes, there are so many interesting and beautiful things that take place as we go through the natural cycles. In a more perfect world we would have the time and access to be obwerving them all of the time!

I always miss them while they are in their winter cycle, but that too is necessary and it will be so wonderful to see them come to life and color again in spring!

We still have goldenrod, a few brown-eyed susans, a variety of asters and a couple others in the sunflower family. Not a lot, but enough that I was surprised to find them this late in the year and especially in the drought conditions that we have had.

I think they will. The birds are still doing quite well, but lots of them are starting their migrations.

Just gorgeous. It’s gray and rainy here this morning, and a little dark, but your flowers shine as though they’re lit from within. Fall wildflowers are the best – perhaps it’s the knowing they’ll soon be gone.

Gray and rainy sound so good now! We are hoping for just a little rain next week; at least there is a chance. I would love to have a few good rains before the snow comes! I don’t think Will was thinking of wildflowers, but “parting is such sweet sorrow…”.

One of my favorite seasons when I was in Phoenix was orange blossom season. (Well, it should be a season!) Tell Marbles “hello” for me!

Thanks! This has been a strange, hot and dry summer. THere is just a small touch of Fall in the air, and I wonder if I will really feel it until I see the first snow.

It seems to be, although today I did see some aspens that have turned nicely. Lots of trees though have turned abruptly from green to brown.
