We had a little rain, just enough to clear the air, and some of the clouds stayed around to pose.

In the region, we did get some pretty good rain. Locally, just a little though and I went for a long walk in it!

In 2002 50,000 acres (or 78 square miles) along the Reservation Divide and the head of Siegel Creek burned. This photo was taken from right about in the center of that area.

What expansive and soul-breath taking a hike in this area would be. Pure nature. Beautiful photos all —this post and previous posts. Wow and aha.

The trail there runs along a tall divide and provides great views of both sides and of the mountains to the west and has few visitors. It’s a wonderful place to be for awhile and not be bothered by anybody. It is in the Coeur d’Alene mountains. The mountains in the previous few posts were the Cabinets.

Lovely! And – we had a cloud like that recently that I watched drift (rather rapidly) across the sky and I thought “this is the sort of cloud that made the ancients think of chariots.”

The purple ones are lupines and the yellows are buckwheat. I will post more photos from that area that include lots more flowers.

The ones at the lower elevations have finished blooming long ago, but high up they are in full bloom.

A friend just posted pics of a trip into the Mt. St. Helen’s area. There’s nothing more gratifying than seeing nature make a return after destruction of any sort.
