Montana Outdoors
Wow – just beautiful, so serene. A clear night is something that we haven’t had since… about the middle of May!

We have started having some now. The cold fronts have stopped coming here and high temperatures are setting in. I greatly prefer the rain but our clear summer nights let the nighttime temperatures fall into the 40’s (f) and that’s very pleasant.

That sounds like a proper mountain climate in summer… unlike ours. Today we’re told to expect a month’s rainfall in 24 hours!

I wish I could send you some of this dry heat that we are having in return for some of that rain! The forecast now here is for 100°(f) days Sunday and Tuesday.

The water was interesting. It’s flowing quite fast and the 3 second exposure really smoothed it out!

That’s a large part of my motivation for this blog, Teresa. This particular scene was in the valley, but a lot of what I photograph is never widely seen because it is remote. I hate that the beauty of such places is un-noticed.

Beautiful. I missed last nights full moon rise. I’ve had grand children visiting this week and last night was the first night I didn’t have anyone and I guess I was more tired than I thought as I fell asleep by 8 and slept soundly until this morning. Didn’t even hear the fireworks that went off at the baseball park a couple of miles away, which I can always hear. Nice to see this peaceful image this morning a nice counterpoint to the activity level of 5 and 8 year olds. Thank you.

It is the full moon, isn’t it? We are getting lots of clouds, I haven’t seen it. The color of this moon, and the reflection is perfect. What a nice shot!

A beautiful moonrise. It rose here out of a “mountain” of clouds, and then was framed on both sides by fireworks! All the little towns along the bay have their shows before the big one, and I can see them all just by walking up one floor to the 4th level balcony. At one point, I could see the moon and seven fireworks shows!

I was up in the mountains last night and didn’t see ay fireworks. I had heard that the usual display in the nearest town was not held this year for lack of funds anyway. I remember one fourth I was driving ( I can’t remember now even where that was), but I was able to see some of the fireworks from several different small towns as I drove.

I know it’s the moon, but your picture reminded me of the opening lines of Robert Service’s “The Cremation of Sam McGee”:
