I knew I would get the blue sky but the camera showed more blue in the water than I anticipated, a nice surprise.

Wow. We often think of the color blue as setting a sad mood but this does nothing of the kind. I’m with jomegat, grab your boat and get out there it’s fantastic.

That lake does get a little traffic, mostly in winter by ice fishermen. It’s on the reservation and I don’t think motorized boats are allowed.

That lake is pretty just about any time you see it. It, for some reason, sits in along a mountain pass and it has lots of unusual weather.

Well, the snow was way up there. This morning it was down to 4,000 feet and tonight the ground here in the valley is white.

Speaking of crayolas – if I remember correctly, that lake comes very close to Prussian Blue, which was renamed Midnight Blue once Prussia wasn’t around any longer. In any event, it’s the only example of that color I recall seeing in nature, and it’s simply exquisite.
Not only that, if you rotated the photo 90 degrees, the wavelets would look exactly like a silk-crinkle skirt I have. Wish I could have found it in this blue!

It certainly is an attractive blue. There must have been some interesting light angles to impart a blue to the lake that is deeper than its source in the sky.

I think so too. For landscape photographs, light does the creating. We have to just be lucky to be there when it does.

It is a special scene for me, because I have been on the top of those distant peaks, and my home is between the lakes and the peaks.

The shades of blue here and the reasons for them would be a very interesting study. Our mountains at a long distance always have a blue cast, probably from water vapor in the air. Other times the camera will see blue that I would otherwise miss.

I’m sure I will get a shot or two of the lake with a layer of snow on it. When I was a kid we used to ice fish there and if there wasn’t too much snow on the ice we kids could skate while the adults fished.

We get a pretty good mixture here of stormy skies and blue skies except in winter when blue sky is at a premium. When it happens, it’s sure pretty though, and as you say, happier! Today was very nice though with heavy snow coming down most of the day.
