Tonight while replying to a comment I reviewed my photo archives from the past several Septembers and was reminded that September is a very good month here for sunsets. This one occurred on September 5, 2009.
Yes, it is becoming that time of year. Sunsets in late summer seem to be more colorful than any other time of the year. I am sure it has a lot to do with the timing and angle of the Sun and all that. I just enjoy them and smile in the warm colors of a cooling evening.
The way things are going here lately, those sunsets will have lots of color caused by smoke in the air. There are lots of wildfires burning now across Montana, although none at the moment in our area.
That’s just awe-inspiringly gorgeous! Sunsets and sunrises (I see more of sunrises lately) are such beautiful times of day and can go from delicately beautiful to just overpoweringly so. Wow. Thanks!
Okay. Now, after all these years, I’ve seen the perfect photograph (at least from my perspective). Stunning, real, wonderfully framed top to bottom, side to side, and beautiful. HOLY MACKEREL!!!!!!!!!
Dear God in Heaven, that’s incredibly GORGEOUS! WoWoWeeeeeee! November is the best month for sunsets in my neck of the woods – I can’t get over how beautiful that is… I love the deep dark color FRAME WORTHY!!! =)
We haven’t had very many colorful evenings this summer and are about due for some. With all of the fires and smoke around, there might be some great color later. We had a few clouds today, but no color tonight.
Wonderful picture! I have to rely on pictures for the best sunsets because I live in an area that is too urban. We have plenty of nature, but it is packed in smaller areas.
We don’t have a lot of them, but there are some beauties when they come. I like to have the river for a setting for them if I can, but my favorite was taken from a mountain peak. You can see it here.
Spectacular as everyone else said! Gorgeous. Well, we get pretty sunsets and sunrises here, too, as you know but since I live in the middle of the city, they’re photographically ruined by poles and lines everywhere. Sometimes that can still make a nice photo but in my immediate neighborhood, the photos never look too good.
Yes, I remember many gorgeous sunsets when I was there. We used to camp in the desert a lot and saw many on those trips as well as some beautiful sunrises.
I often do, Stacey. It’s close and so I can go there to just relax and watch and listen to the water. It’s where I head for when it looks like there will be a colorful sunset too. (And the fishin’s good too!)
Let me be the first to say “WOW”!

They are indeed great times of the day to be out and about, and provide lots of photo opportunities. I’m glad you’re seeing those sunrises!

Thanks Bill! I was very lucky to see that sunset as it developed and I had the time to hike down to the river to get the right frame for it.

Wow, that almost looks too perfect to be real! It looks like a painting. That must have been pretty amazing to be standing there next to that sunset.

I just gotta ask… how much would you charge to put that on canvas in an 11X16, maybe? Not real sure about the size, but I gotta have it

Ditto to what everyone else has said. Here in Austin we only rarely get a photo-worthy sunset.
