I think so too Jim. We are familiar with sensitivity with pets, but don’t often think about it with wildlife.

Very nice. And sweeter than the mother fawn interaction I captured earlier. Mom was licking baby’s hiney to stimulate excretion, I believe. As much as I wanted to take a sweet photo, she could not be diverted from her task. I don’t even want to think about where the excreta ended up!

I think Mom is pretty proud of her baby! I really think that does will sometimes bring their fawns around to show them off to us.

A perfect series of images to lift my spirits this morning… just visited a friend’s blog which reminded me (not that I could forget) of the horrific events that happened in Norway last week… the world needs more tenderness and caring and less insanity! And now I’m off to visit more of your posts that I missed while traveling because that will cheer me up MORE!

There is a very strong bond between mother and baby there, isn’t there! I’m pretty sure that doe is a regular visitor here and I really think she brought her fawn around to show it off!

They were fairly close: the photos were at 300mm. Most of the critters around are aware that this is a safe place for them. In the winter of ’97 the snow got up to four feet deep here and one little doe slept right next to the house under my window. I think this pair spends a lot of time in the thickk brush in our little canyon.

We are accustomed to seeing similar interaction between domestic animals, but for some reason don’t consider that the wild ones act similarly I guess.
