The rugged beauty of the Mission Mountains is always an insperation on the drive between Missoula and Kalispell.

They usually have fairly heavy snow on them on into July. Many years, the Missions will have some snow on them all year long.

Hi Montucky, That’s a really beautiful picture! It is much cooler here the past couple of days. The high here where I live in Cumberland County, TN, will be 55 degrees today. That is quite a change from almost 89 degrees three days ago here. Spring in the South! Have a splendid day & keep showing us those wonderful scenes!

By coincidence, 55 is the forecast for here today too! Our highest for this year though has only been 73.

So beautiful! When I lived in Salt Lake City, I got so used to the mountains being around me I felt vulnerable when I moved to Texas’ coastal prairie!

I can see why you don’t ever want to leave again. The next place I live will have a mountain view for sure.

When I was younger, that wouldn’t have been a daunting distance for a one-day hike. Today, we might want to use your Jeep to cheat on the thing a bit and start closer.

Four Peaks isn’t all that bad, and San Francisco Peak is a beautiful mountain too. You just have to look a little further in Arizona. It’s funny, we used to camp just north of the Rim between Payson and Flag at 8,000 feet and that’s higher than most of our mountains around here.

White snow and green. Seems to be good combination.
Those mountains are very beautiful, rounded differ very much from those sharp edges at background. In this photo they are similar to the Alps in Europe.

About getting addicted to mountain views. Living around mountains you also get addicted to getting high enough up to have panorama views over the surrounding countryside. In the midwest, where I grew up, one had to climb a pretty tall tree, or more likely a fire lookout tower, to achieve that viewpoint.

That’s both a blessing and a curse here in the lower Clark Fork. The top-down views are plentiful, but it’s a lot of work to get up to the high regions. Fortunately, there are lots of trails!
