Montana Outdoors
It looks very much like winter there.We had sunny day and some of our mountain ranges are covered with snow,so makes for a pretty sight.

I know it’s nice in your area to live in a warm climate yet see the snow in the mountains and go there when you wish.

It does look cold. Time to hibernate. I would not call it lifeless, but the blood is not flowing swiftly. I hope you get a photo of the eagle.

It was cold when I took that photo. It has warmed a bit now, but there is another visit from the Arctic air coming in a few days. I’ve seen that Golden around many times but have never been able to get close enough for a shot. I may have to try some sort of white camo. I’d also like to get a few shots a little later of a pair of Bald eagles who nest a couple of miles up river. Their nest is in a tall tree and the trick there will be to somehow approach the area without disturbing them.

That’s a big river, Anna but when it gets very cold for a week or so, the floating ice will eventually stick together and cover the whole channel. When it does that, we know it has been a cold winter.

Oh yeah. Those pesky birds. Doesn’t matter what size they are, as soon as they see you with your camera..bam! They are off in a minute!

Thanks! I won’t give up. I remember seeing one when I was a kid on a fishing trip. It was sitting on an old rail fence with a rattlesnake in its talons. Didn’t have a camera in those days.

Yes, it takes a lot of cold days to get those ice cakes floating down the river.

Hi Montucky, Very pretty! We had a surprise snow storm of sorts here this afternoon. Wet huge flakes but nothing is sticking. It is about 35 degrees here so that is the reason for the snow not to stick. Have a wonderful day!

We also had a little snow today, but the temp went into the upper 20’s! We may even see above freezing for a day, then sub-zeros after it.

We had a few flurries today, but the temperature was close to 40º, so it didn’t amount to anything.
Love the ice in the river. Good luck capturing the eagle. I have never seen a Golden.

We don’t have a lot of Goldens around, but there must be several pairs nesting not too far away because we do see them. They are huge and beautiful, but very hard to approach.

Icy river and snowy landscape – excellent elements for Your lovely photo.
The tree in foreground strikes to my eyes. It seems not to be high, but very strong. That kind od trees, mainly pines, we have in our most Northern part.

The tree is a fairly young pine, perhaps 50 years old. I believe it’s a Ponderosa. It will groe to be twice that height.

I always find it a wonder that birds of prey (we have buzzards and the occasional pair of Red Kite, here) can get any food in snowy weather – their prey can see (and probably hear) them coming from miles around.
I look forward to seeing the photo when you fool it into thinking you’re a snowman and take it’s pic!
