Montucky, that shot ROCKS! WoW! I l♥ve l♥ve l♥ve it… the snow, the mountain, the sky, being high up, the lake, snow covered trees… it’s all so very beautiful!!! =)
The vertical part of the “cross” is a contrail from a military aircraft headed toward your way, Stacey. The horizontal part, it it’s also a contrail is very unusual.
Gorgeous.I might have to replace my current desktop photo of yours with this one–hard choice. I like those contrails, if that is what they are. And I’m going to miss the WordPress snow, just a couple more days of it.
I’ve been thinking about using this for my desktop too, but I’m still stuck on the pheasant. I will miss the WordPress snow too. The real stuff will be with us here though until into April.
It’s a scene I like too. The mountains in the background are the Coeur d’Alenes. Each summer I visit the tops of several of those peaks which are within the Cherry Peak Roadless area.
That roadless are is about 60 square miles in size and there are several trails into it and roads to the trail heads. Last summer I hiked to within a thousand feet or so of the tallest peak from the bottom. Quite a climb and I did it at the wrong time of year. Early next summer I will go there again but plan to spend a night on the peak. It’s a very pretty peak and was the site of a fire lookout back in the 1930’s.
Yes, I am very fortunate to live here. I have hiked and hunted and fished in these mountains off and on for over 60 years and love them even more each year.
A direct contrast to the steel gray skies I experienced on the rainy northern California coast yesterday. It was still beautiful just a different palette of colors. Thanks for sharing your beautiful scenery.
Thanks Robin! So far we’ve had just a couple sunny days: the rest of the time it has been a cold, black and white world. I’m itching to get out and will pretty soon.
OH wow. This is awesome!!!!! You and Montana make a great team.

The year started with a pretty day, but a cold one. It was 5° when I hiked up the hill and saw this scene.

We’ve had at least a little snow every night for a week and it has been cold enough to keep most of it in powder form.

Am I seeing correct, if there is some kind of construction or is it a broken tree?
I love this photo, it is sure!
