Yesterday, the forecast was for a heavy snow during the night, but a quick look at the rain gauge this morning showed that we received an inch of rain instead. And near the rain gauge the Pansies were covered with raindrops.
Tonight, the previous forecast seems to be coming true: the ground and trees are white and the air is filled with beautiful big snowflakes.

I liked the contrast too. This morning everything looked like it was flocked. The snow was wet and sticky and now it is rapidly melting.

For a few hours this morning it did look like a wonderland, but then much of the snow melted. More snow is expected as well as some Arctic air next week. Hope it doesn’t get as far as KC! After a bout with sub-zeros, I’ll be ready for spring too!

Yes, we have quite a few pansies still blooming, even after a dozen nights in the 20’s. This one is the largest and I think the prettiest. At times it even looks black.

That was about the peak of that flower’s bloom, and also the last of it. Our temperatures will be in the -10F range for the next several days. I’m glad I caught it when I did!

Well, there’s always winter in the Flagstaff area. I heard that Prescott Valley will be getting snow tonight. I don’t know if it’s still possible, but we used to get a Forest Service permit to cut a Christmas tree north of Payson and that got our holiday spirit started.
