Aspens up toward Mexico Saddle

Photo was taken on October 19, 2010 in the Coeur d’Alene Mountains in western Montana

  1. Yowzers – those bright yellow leaves just look like flames of sunshine! Lovely!

    • Yes, the aspens were very pretty this year. A nice sunny day helps too!

  2. Dear GOD in Heaven, that’s so beautiful!
Check out that blue blue sky!!! And the trees & the mountains & there’s a road way up there??!!! WoWoWeee!!!

    • That is a Forest Service access road now. Many years ago there was a mine up there. The road is now closed to motor vehicles just past where the photo was taken unless there is an emergency.

  3. I don’t know how you do it, but every day your photos get more and more beautiful. Such majesty in those mountains.

    • It’s the mountains, Robin. The only way you can go wrong in photographing them is to not go there!

  4. This is gorgeous in colors and the composition. Love is all from the mountains, yellow trees, trail and deep blue sky.

    • Thanks! That’s a very scenic area, especially in autumn.

  7. The composition in this shot is perfect. Just enough color to make it pop. So lovely.

    • Thanks Sandy! The aspens just beg to be photographed when they are in color.

  9. I’m a big fan of aspens, and these look especially nice in their bright fall colors.

    • I was especially pleased to see these because last year we had hardly any aspen colors at all due to the early deep freeze that we had. Maybe things are getting back to normal.

  10. I nearly can imagine how it is to drive a car in these mighty surroundings.

    Love the photo.

    • It’s great! This road is now closed for the winter because of the snow level. Still hikeable for awhile though.
