  1. Oh wow. Love those Showy Asters, and love the photo you took of them. If I recall, these are not a very large flower?

    • No, they are about the size of a dime. I like the clusters though, and they are blooming everywhere now, one of the last flowers to bloom. Today I hiked in the high country, about 6,000 feet and there are still Indian paintbrush and several other flowers still blooming at that elevation along with lots of these Asters.

    • Yes, I think they are well named, and especially now when they provide almost all of the color around.

    • These were on the river bank and this particular group just showed up as though there was a spotlight on them.

  6. Asters are blooming here, too. I will post some tomorrow. That one looks like our Purple Stemmed one.
    Do you get the dark purple ones they call New England aster here?

    • I see on USDA Plants that those grow here, but I’m not sure I can distinguish them from other types. I wish I had more training.
