It is always worth while to spend time by the river because there’s almost always something beautiful there and today’s visit was no exception.

This fella has such a cute face! I usually try to avoid looking at the body of any insect, and with butterflies I enjoy only their colourful wings. But this one makes me almost want to stroke him.

He does look as though he is posing. It was a bit windy and I’ve found that wind will keep them almost anchored once they land.

The Vetch looks as though they were tie-dyed and I think the shades of color are attractive. That petal must be a comfortable place to sit.

I like the visitor, and the photograph, but that Vetch is my headache here! I just spent a good portion of the morning pulling Vetch out of my backyard at the shoreline. It is very pretty but quite invasive!

I’ve read that Vetch can be a big headache, but I’ve never seen that much of it around here, mostly a few plants scattered around.

Yes he’s pretty small. It was very lucy that he stayed put so long and let me get that close (about 6 inches).

I remember how the rivers in Arizona were so much in demand because of their scarcity and since then I’ve never taken one for granted. I’m really lucky here because the Clark Fork is a short walk from the house. You would love it!
