The hyacinths are interesting because their color can very so much as the light does and the angle changes. They are rather strange plants but I always look forward to their blooms.
For some reason I haven’t seen nearly as many butterflies as I usually do. It has been a strange spring and summer and perhaps that affects them. I love to see the blues.

All of those blues are great! I have wild violets in my backyard and would not mow them. They are so beautiful. Your pictures are excellent!

Thank you! There are patches of violets in our yard too. They are easy to spot because those are the areas that never seem to get mowed.

I’ve gotten far behind in posting photos of the flowers and so thought that this group of blues would help catch up. Then today I added several more along just a couple miles of trail. I love this time of year!

After an extremely dry winter here, many of the flower species are not doing very well, the blue violets seem to be flourishing. I see lots of them nearly everywhere I go and it’s really enjoyable!

It is a wonderful time of year. This is traditionally our wettest month and this May is no exception. The cloudy weather seems to emphasize the wildflowers that a providing color to the forests.

Wish I could have included bluebirds, but still haven’t had a good chance to photograph one this year. We do have a pair nesting near our house this summer though.
