A very common plant but…

Scouring-rush horsetail

this one was so nicely decorated!

  1. Looks like a tiny green fountain!

    • I thought that too, Bo! That is just dew from the cool night, although I wonder where the big drop came from.

  2. oooh – what awesome decorations! What kind of plant is that? I don’t recognize it though it might just be it’s outfit!! ;o)

    • My ID’s are never a guarantee, Stacey, but I’d call this a Scouring-rush, (Equisetum hyemale) in the Horsetail family. It seems to grow everywhere in the US. This shot of it in the spring is unusual, I think. I looked at lots of sites without seeing a similar photo.

    • I fell in love with it as soon as I noticed it. I thought the configuration of the plant was perfect for the tiny dew drops.

  5. It’s the eye that I’m wondering about…right hand side, not too far from the top.

    • You know, in one of the other photos of this, the angle was slightly different and that eye has a pupil that looks like a cat’s eye.

  7. ooh,… I really like the “beads” on each bud point!

    • It must have just condensed on those little points. Wish I could have seen it form.

    • Thanks Jewel. Somehow the structure of the new growth attracted the dew.
