Thanks Jeff. Yes, fresh snow. We made it to 43° today, but it wasn’t nearly that warm in the canyon; probably still in the 20’s there. That canyon is cold in the summer.

That’s more snow than we had a Christmas. This is a rather cold spring, but snow in April is not unusual here (or in May or June or July). We could use some sun though. The wildflowers are starting to bloom, but the domestics are pretty sad.

That was cold, but today there’s a bit of sun. Soon it will be warm again. We do have about three more winter months than I would like though.

That was taken near the start of the trail. It’s like an invitation to hike. The trail extends from there (at about 2,600 feet) for about 5 miles where it intersects with two other trails and ascends to Big Hole Peak and the Big Hole Lookout at about 7,000 feet.

I can’t resist hiking a trail that starts out like that! I know this one pretty well by now and walking on it is like visiting with an old friend.

I see that Colorado also got a dusting of snow. Temperature here in GA during the week was up into the 80s. Now it’s cooled off. No snow, though.

I’ve seen temps in the 80’s reported from several areas. We hit the 50’s today for a change: yesterday’s high was 43 and it was 25 last night.

brrrrrr… it was 75 here today, FINALLY! all of the photos are awesome, but the third one is my favorite. perfectly framed… i feel like i could enter that “doorway”!

There are several sections of that trail that are really inviting, maybe a little more so in the summer.

I love that third photo, too. The weather people keep threatening snow here, but none so far, though it did get will below freezing the night before last.

If you’re outdoors much here you always prepare for cold and snow no matter what time of year and especially if you plan to get into the higher elevations. A few years ago I spent most of a day hiking above the clouds at about 7000 feet taking pictures in the snow… in June. When I came back down, the folks in the valley had no idea there was snow up there.

Thanks Iona. The cedar canyon is a really pretty place. In summer there are large stands of Devil’s Club there too.

Cool photos. I like that forest scenery and I guess that it would be lovely to stroll there. Well, when talking about spring in our small garden we still about 7 inches snow here and there. Next week it has smelted, I guess.

We had very little snow this winter, none building up in valley locations which is unusual. This was a short storm that stayed in the cold temperature of the canyon. Yes, that’s a pleasant trail although it gets quite aggressive after the first few miles.
